Wellness Day Your Way
Wellness Day is an opportunity for staff, faculty and students to reflect on their health and well-being. The next Wellness Day is Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025.
Take advantage of Wellness Day to focus on different facets of your well-being. Consider engaging in a variety of Wellness Day events and other experiences that expand your knowledge of NC State’s elements of wellness. We have developed a guide with ideas of how you can utilize your Wellness Day to focus on the different elements of your wellness:
Purpose
Focusing on your purpose means engaging in meaningful and satisfying work that aligns with your personal values and goals. Here are some ways to work on your purpose:
- Complete a Clifton Strengths Assessment.
- Create a vision board.
- Create or improve your LinkedIn profile.
- Volunteer with a nonprofit organization.
- Make a plan to attend a career fair.
- Participate in a mock interview.
- Get a free professional headshot taken.
- Register for e-Pack and upload a resume.
- Complete a career assessment.
- Meet with a career/academic counselor.
Physical
Manage your health with a balanced, nutritious diet, regular exercise and adequate sleep. Here are some ways to focus on your physical wellness:
- Participate in a wellness challenge (movement, sleep, nutrition, etc.).
- Register for a physical exam at Campus Health.
- Meet with a registered dietitian.
- Try a Wolf Approved food in a C-store or dining hall.
- Meet with a personal trainer.
- Participate in group fitness classes.
- Join an NC State intramural sports team.
- Complete a one-week sleep diary.
- Register for an outdoor adventures trip.
- Rent equipment for the Outdoor Adventures Equipment Rental Center.
- Attend a cooking demonstration in the teaching kitchen.
- Join a Health and Exercise Studies Fitness (HESF) class.
- Participate in an organized running event (Krispy Kreme Challenge, Kay Yow, Veterans Day Run, Moonlight Howl and Run, etc.).
- Explore a new park/trail.
Financial
Saving and spending wisely to manage your financial resources and meet your basic needs is an essential element. Here’s how you can work on your financial wellness:
- Create a personal budget using a template.
- Complete a scholarship application.
- Attend a Ready to Retire workshop.
- Apply for an on-campus job.
- Download an app to help with budgeting.
- Explore resources to build confidence.
- Create a free account on LIT, a financial literacy platform.
- Register for a personal finance course.
- Visit the PNC Finance Academy.
- Visit Pack Essentials to find food, housing, financial and educational resources.
Emotional
Coping with challenges and developing overall resiliency to meet your emotional needs is key. Here are some resources to focus on your emotional wellness:
- Attend drop-in support spaces.
- Schedule a counseling appointment.
- Explore self-help resources.
- Attend a wellness education session.
- Meet with a wellness coach.
- Start practicing gratitude journaling.
- Complete Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) training.
- Create a self-care action plan.
- Download and use a wellness app (Headspace, Better You, Unwinding Anxiety, etc.).
- Join the Togetherall peer support community.
Social
To fill our social cup, we need to work to cultivate new and existing relationships in order to build a robust, supportive network. Here are some ways to work on this:
- Join a student organization.
- Attend an event on campus.
- Create/join a study group.
- Attend a group fitness class with a colleague.
- Participate in an intramural sport league or event.
- Participate in an Office of Global Engagement event.
- Attend an Arts NC State event.
- Take a class at the Crafts Center.
- Take a walk and talk with Howling Cow ice cream.
Community
Finally, members of the Wolfpack should contribute their passions and strengths to foster a safe and supportive environment for all. Here’s how you can focus on community:
- Attend an NC State athletics event.
- Become a Wellness Champion.
- Attend an Arts NC State event.
- Donate to Feed the Pack Food Pantry.
- Attend a Staff Senate meeting.
- Join Student Government.
- Acknowledge a colleague.
- Visit all nine Hallowed Places on campus.
- Check off NC State bucket list experiences.
- Visit the Agroecology Education Farm.
- Visit the Gregg Museum of Art & Design.
- Visit JC Raulston Arboretum.
- Visit the Compost Facility.
- Attend a Chamber of Commerce event.
- Participate in a campus community center event:
