Feel empowered with your fellow Wolfpack women at Wellness and Recreation’s Ladies Night, October 18. Whether it is your first time in the gym or you’re a fitness expert, we have something for you.
Is Cardi-B your main girl? Are you Team Taylor or Team Katy? Let the competition inspire your workout. We have three awesome music-themed classes for you: Cardi-O Dance with Cardi B, Taylor Swift vs. Katy Perry cycle battle and Cardi B vs. Nicki Minaj cycle battle. There will be one instructor to lead each team. Which team will you be on?
If you’re wanting to try something new we have women’s boxing for you to get your sweat on. Boxing is always the most popular class on Ladies Night, according to group fitness coordinator Leigha Krick. Boxing is a small group training format offered by Wellness and Recreation, but Ladies Night provides a free session of boxing for women to learn the basics. Boxing allows women to gain both strength and confidence from their workout.
“Boxing empowers women to get out of their comfort zone and to challenge themselves with a different workout,” said boxing coach Ginnie Neal.
Participants aren’t the only ones who love Ladies Night. It is a highly anticipated event by staff too. Our instructors look forward to all the new participants that come and the returning faces they already know. Instructors are aware of the impact they have on participants and work hard to make your time in the gym enjoyable and empowering.
“Individual impacts can change a single story”, said Krick. We will have multiple instructors at the event and we encourage you to get to know them and come back for their classes. The instructors teach classes regularly and would love to see you again.
Grab your girls and join us for a fun, female-empowered night. Beyond our themed group cycle, cardio dance and boxing, Ladies Night will include yoga and there will be a workout guided by personal trainers in the mini gym of Carmichael Gym, fitness center 2306. There is a class for every woman’s interest. All classes are groups of 20-40 women to create a fun and social environment.
We are aware the gym can be an intimidating place for women since it can be perceived as a male-dominated space, but this event provides a safe space for all women. Don’t let fear hold you back, this event encourages women to feel comfortable in the gym and in their bodies. Get out of your comfort zone and join us. This event could be the beginning of your fitness journey.
Wellness and Recreation is committed to inspiring the diverse group of students at NC State and Ladies Night is a way to inspire and empower our Wolfpack women. Empower yourselves and embrace your wellness by joining us for this can’t miss event.
