Help Our Students by #GivingPack and Giving Forward

This Day of Giving, your gift to the Feed the Pack food pantry and the new Department of Performing Arts and Technology can go even further through special giving match challenges.

Two students hold signs for #GivingPack

On Wednesday, March 22, NC State alumni, employees, parents and friends of the Division of Academic and Student Affairs will once again have a prime opportunity to make a difference in the lives of NC State students.

This year, the division is offering two special matching gift challenges:

Feed the Pack Food Pantry

In honor of Feed the Pack’s 10th anniversary and Feed the Pack’s move to the Pack Essentials Hub, longtime pantry supporters Steve ’79 and Gladys Deaton have established a special challenge for Day of Giving. When the Feed the Pack Food Pantry Fund receives 250 gifts, the Deatons will give $25,000 to support the Pack Essentials program. Learn more here.

Department of Performing Arts and Technology Music Scholarship Endowment

NC State’s arts entrepreneurship, dance and music programs have unified in this new department and launched a new B.S. in music technology degree program. On Day of Giving, an anonymous donor couple will give $25,000 to a music scholarship endowment when the Department of Performing Arts and Technology reaches 250 cumulative gifts to the Music Enhancement Fund and the Dance Enhancement Fund.

In addition to these initiatives, there are more than 40 other funds that support the NC State student experience. Whether it is connecting students with career and service opportunities or ensuring they have access to food, housing and emergency resources, the Division of Academic and Student Affairs helps everyone find their place in the Pack.

DASA has received more gifts than any other NC State college or division on Day of Giving each of the last four years. With continued support from generous donors, the division hopes to make it five in a row!

How Can Students and Young Alumni Help?

Although raising funds for NC State programs is the primary goal for Day of Giving, it is also about having fun and showing your Wolfpack pride. We know that not everyone has the means to give money; fortunately, there are still many ways you can support your favorite program or unit at NC State! One of the easiest ways to help — without having to reach for your credit card — is by participating in social media challenges both leading up to and on the day. Participating in challenges can be as simple as sharing a video, completing a scavenger hunt, commenting on a post, posting a photo of your pet or showing us your wolfies. Last year, DASA units won thousands in additional funding by winning nine social media challenges. Visit the Challenges tab on NC State Day of Giving website to learn more about this year’s social media challenges at https://dayofgiving.ncsu.edu/.

There are lots of other ways current students can help, too. Make sure to stop by Talley Student Union or The Corner on Centennial Campus on Day of Giving for activities, food and more. You can also pay it forward by writing thank you letters to the donors who fund your scholarships, student organizations and other areas that are important to your NC State education. Stay tuned to your email for more details about the in-person event!
