Statement of Solidarity

The Memorial Belltower

We continue to witness the ongoing racial violence and inequity plaguing our country while also being aware that these acts are only the ones that have been filmed. We recognize that while this is a lived experience for some of us, others have the privilege to opt out of the conversation or change the channel when the news brings us discomfort. We, as a team, want you to know that we stand in solidarity with our Black students, faculty, and staff.

We lift up and honor the lives of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Tony McDade, and the countless other Black Americans whose lives end too soon because of senseless violence against Black people rooted in racism. There are no words to describe or heal the trauma, hurt, anger, sadness, pain, and grief.

We see you. We hear you. We mourn with you. We see the injustice that you face daily. We will stand with you. We love you. Black lives matter.

We, in Prevention Services, are counselors, advocates, and educators. We are here to serve and support all students in our NC State community. If you feel you could benefit from support or know someone else who needs supportive resources, you can submit a referral to CARES here. If you have general questions about available support you can visit our website to learn more, or email us at prevention-services@ncsu.edu.
