NC State’s Honors and Scholars Village is currently in the process of selecting a 2021-2022 scholar in residence. Applicants are required to submit a current CV or resume and a letter of interest to Scott O’Leary, director of the Honors and Scholars Village by Monday, April 12 for priority consideration. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

A terminal degree is preferred, though candidates from all academic backgrounds will be considered. Each year, the Honors and Scholars Village selects a faculty member to serve as its scholar in residence. The goal of the program is to foster meaningful dialogue between students and faculty outside the classroom. As such, the scholar in residence serves as a role model for village students as they develop as young scholars and researchers.

The scholar in residence is provided housing in a fully-furnished, approximately 1,000 square-foot apartment located on the ground floor of Bagwell Residence Hall in the Honors and Scholars Village on NC State’s East Campus.

Past scholars in residence have included:

  • Anne Auten, University Honors and Scholars Programs
  • Sheryl Cornett, Department of English
  • William Bauer, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies

For more information about the Scholar in Residence Program, contact Scott O’Leary or view the application web page.
