HES Faculty Staying Active During the Summer: Darrin DeReu

Darrin DeReu, MS, ATC, attended the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Training Conference in Ocean City, Maryland.  The purpose of this conference is to enhance the quality of health care for athletes and those engaged in physical activity, and to advance the profession of athletic training through education and research in the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries.  The conference utilizes lectures, written materials, evidence based research, and hands on lab sections to enhance the delivery of information.

He also completed continuing education through these courses: The Hydration Debate: Making sense of the mixed messages, Integration of Evidence based medicine for the treatment of SLAP lesions, Avulsion and Tibial Spine Fractures in Young Athletes, Integration of Evidence-Based Medicine for the Prevention, Recognition, Management and Care of Exertional Heat Stroke, Emergency Management of Patients Wearing Men’s Lacrosse Equipment, Superficial and Deep Heating Modalities: using evidence to improve outcomes, Ankle Sprain Rehabilitation: An Evidence Based Approach, and Nutrition and Injury Prevention and Performance.
