University Scholars Program graduating seniors gathered around the NC State seal on the night of their Senior Recognition Ceremony for one final group picture together.

The staff of the University Honors Program wishes to extend its congratulations to the University Scholars Program graduating class of 2024! You’ve worked hard to achieve your goals at NC State and we wish you the best of luck in all your future endeavors.

Although the University Scholars Program unified in name and requirements with the University Honors Program in the Fall of 2022, program staff will continue to celebrate original Scholars Program graduates with the recognition of their own program and its requirements at the end of every spring semester for as long as those students are enrolled at the university.

Scholars Program student, Honors Program Ambassador, former Office Assistant and graduating Industrial Engineering major, Elizabeth Poinsette, delivered the student speaker address to fellow University Scholars Program graduates.

A big shout out goes to Elizabeth Poinsette for speaking on behalf and in encouragement of her fellow graduates during the Senior Recognition Ceremony for University Scholars Program graduates on April 30th. During this ceremony, Poinsette was also recognized for earning the Alex Miller Outstanding Student Award, which recognizes select graduating program participants who have exhibited a significant commitment to the University Scholars Program and its students – who have had a real impact on the program and left it better than they found it.

Named for the founding director of the original University Scholars Program, the Alex Miller Award will continue to recognize the graduating seniors who best embody the mission and spirit of the Scholars Program within the University Honors Program.

To graduate from the University Scholars Program with Scholars Recognition, students admitted to the program prior to the fall 2022 semester had to complete the following criteria:

  • Three semesters of Forum
  • Twelve credit hours of approved advanced coursework
  • A minimum of three high impact experiences
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.25 or higher for the duration of their college career

The University Honors Program awards the following spring 2024 graduates with University Scholars Recognition, which will be indicated on their official academic transcripts and was identifiable at graduation ceremonies via a Scholars medallion:
