NC State Offers Complimentary Wellness and Recreation Memberships to Students Impacted by Hurricane Helene

The widespread impact of Hurricane Helene has affected many across North Carolina. Our western neighbors, Appalachian State University, Western Carolina University and UNC Asheville have temporarily closed, leaving numerous students, faculty and staff displaced.

In response, our communities have come together to provide essential resources and support for everyone impacted by the storm. As part of these efforts, NC State is offering complimentary Wellness and Recreation memberships to impacted students. This initiative aims to support students during this difficult time by providing access to fitness, wellness and recreational resources on campus.

Starting today, impacted students can visit the Wellness and Recreation Center to activate their membership. The facility offers a wide variety of services, including access to state-of-the-art fitness equipment, group exercise classes, swimming pools, indoor courts and wellness programs that promote mental and physical well-being.

To access the facility, students can bring their current student ID card to the Wellness and Recreation Center’s main entrance to gain access.

NC State is also providing additional support services, including counseling, housing assistance and emergency financial aid for those affected.

“We are all deeply saddened by the devastation to western North Carolina,” said Eric Hawkes, executive director of Wellness and Recreation. “However, we are inspired by the strength and compassion our communities have shown in helping one another through this difficult time.”

For more information about the Wellness and Recreation memberships, parking and other available resources for impacted students, please visit the Wellness and Recreation website and take advantage of the resources available to you as part of the NC State community.
