Windows Updates Beginning January 13

Beginning Wednesday, January 13, 2016, DASA Tech will apply a number of updates to all Windows desktops and laptops. These updates will be deployed at staggered times depending on when your computer checks in with the server, and could occur anytime over the next 2 weeks.

Once the update loads you will be prompted to reboot; please save your work and restart your computer at the next convenient time. It is fine to wait until the end of the day, or to reboot the next morning. You may be prompted to reboot a second time during this two week period; if you are prompted, please again save your work and restart your computer at the next convenient time.

More detail, including screenshots of what to expect, will be added to this post, so please check back. For now, please note:

  • Mac computers will not be impacted at this time.
  • In general, these reboots are occasionally needed to push software patches and security updates. In this particular case, one of the updates is for Kaspersky anti-virus software, so it is particularly important to complete the reboot process is a timely manner.

If you have any questions or concerns about the update, please contact your local tech support staff.
