Volunteers Needed for Campus Move-in and Good Neighbor Initiative
One of the most exciting times in the life of our campus is when new and returning students arrive each August for move-in. This year, cross-campus committees have been hard at work developing creative ways to welcome the newest members of the Wolfpack to Raleigh.
This year there are two ways staff, students, and faculty can participate during move-in: volunteer for Move-In Days and/or our first annual off-campus “Good Neighbor” canvassing afternoon. For both of these activities, campus partners will engage students and their families by serving as an ambassador, sharing resources, and welcoming them to our university community. Sign up for a shift to show your school spirit and welcome the Class of 2023 and returners to campus.
Move-In Days
This year’s Move-In Days will take place Wednesday, Aug. 14 – Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. each day. With over 1,000 volunteer positions available over the course of the weekend, it will take an army of committed students and staff to assist families as they arrive to campus. Volunteers are needed for 3-hour shifts or full day, super-volunteer slots to serve as area managers.
Good Neighbor Initiative
In an effort to personally welcome our off-campus students who live in surrounding neighborhoods to the university, NC State will launch the first annual Good Neighbor Initiative on Tuesday, Aug. 20 starting at 1:30 p.m. and will require one shift with many small groups of faculty and staff splintering off to canvas local neighborhoods around Hillsborough Street. This will provide an opportunity to share valuable information with students and non-students who live off-campus in our local community.
