Tongsri named 2016 recipient of HECMA Leadership Award

Tongsri, of the Office of Student and Community Standards, is the university’s Student Behavioral Case Manager and works to identify students of concern within the campus community. With his support, students who are experiencing crises or who have been found to be exhibiting signs of concerning behavior are connected with appropriate resources. Tongsri collaborates closely with campus partners and individuals within the greater community to support and advocate for students, and to help them find crucial intervention resources, both on and off campus. He is dedicated to providing students with the support and services they need to be academically and personally successful during their time at NC State, while also ensuring the safety of the campus community.

HECMA (Higher Education Case Management Association) is the preeminent professional organization for individuals providing case management services in higher ed environments.

The HECMA Leadership Award recognizes individuals who have made a significant impact on the field of higher education case management through their professional accomplishments. To be eligible for the award, applicants must demonstrate that they are providing a positive vision for the future of higher education case management within their institutions, and at the state level. Applicants are recognized for their professional and personal leadership abilities and encourage others to grow their own leadership skills. Only one award is issued per year; award recipients are formally recognized during HECMA’s Annual Roundtable event.

Tongsri holds degrees in math and counseling and personnel services from Longwood University and the University of Maryland, respectively. He also received a Juris Doctor degree from NC Central University and is a practicing attorney providing pro bono legal services to clients through Legal Aid of North Carolina. Tongsri joined the Wolfpack in 2010.
