TH!NK & Scholars Forum present Bruce Claxton on Design Thinking

Students enjoyed a lunch and Q &  A session with Mr. Claxton after his lecture.

The University Scholars Program had the pleasure of partnering with the TH!NK program at NC State to host Bruce Claxton,  Fellow of the Industrial Designers of America, for a Scholars Forum Lecture about design thinking and how to apply those concepts to a variety of ventures. Bruce focused on design thinking models centered on value-added breakthroughs. Collaboration across design, engineering, psychology, anthropology is at the core of the tool sets that he discussed. He referred to experiences and case studies from his multi-disciplinary team during his years of leadership as the Senior Director of Design Integration at Motorola Solutions. Counter-intuitive and user-centered thinking is at the core of this value-added approach to business. Sharing these stories and his design thinking flow model encouraged students to think way outside the box as they approach coursework, projects, and eventually careers in their chosen fields.

The following day, NC State faculty and staff were invited to join Bruce for a hands-on workshop putting some of the design thinking concepts into practice.
