Emily Vespa wins Student Media’s Dean Phillips Award

Emily Vespa is the recipient of the Dean Phillips Award for General Excellence for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is the top award for Student Media for students who show intrepidity and passion for student journalism.

Student Media Raises $7,400 on Day of Giving

NC State Student Media raised more than $7,400 from 51 donations during NC State’s 2024 Day of Giving. 

Members of NC State Student Media won 23 awards at the 2024 NC College Media Association conference at High Point University. Four print outlets – Agromeck, Nubian Message, Technician, and Windhover – all won best-in-show awards. Student Media Brings Home Statewide Journalism Awards

NC State Student Media brought home several awards from the North Carolina College Media Association’s annual conference on Feb. 24. 

Technician opinion correspondent Jordan Birkner was recognized for her coverage of disability issues at NC State.

Technician Recognized For Coverage of Disability Issues

The Ableist, a website that tracks disability and neurodiversity coverage in higher education, ranked Technician’s coverage of disability issues among the best in the country among collegiate media outlets.

WKNC Wins Big at International Broadcasting Awards

WKNC 88.1 FM HD-1/HD-2 earned numerous awards from the inaugural International Student Broadcasting Championship.

Student Media Wins Multiple National Awards

NC State Student Media was honored by four different college media organizations this fall. 

WKNC Local Music Director and Interview Content Creator Erie Mitchell, Promotions Director Eilee Centeno, Interview Content Creator Tyler Farnes and General Manager Maddie Jennette enjoy some of the sights of Baltimore during the College Broadcasters, Inc. National Student Electronic Media Convention Oct. 21-24, 2022. The WKNC team will travel to Orlando Oct. 18-21 to accept their three finalist awards in CBI’s National Student Production Awards.

Radio station seeks performers for WKNC’s Local Lunch Live

The fall series takes place Wednesdays at noon from Oct. 11-Nov. 15 at The Corner, an outdoor venue on the corner of Main Campus and Research Drives. All WKNC Local Lunch Live events are free and open to the public.
