Join University Housing in welcoming the new Arts Village Director Emily Kasprzak. She is a theatre director, designer and collaborator who was raised in Southeastern Kansas. Emily is passionate about using theatre as a vehicle to explore relationships and start conversations. Her work as a director has been recognized by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. While theatre is her primary background, she believes art education is a way to enrich students’ lives and help them become more well-rounded participants in a global society.

Kasprzak has 10 years of experience in higher education, serving most recently as an assistant professor of theatre at Baker University where she taught performance and design classes. She received her bachelor of fine arts degree from Emporia State University and her master of fine arts from Michigan State University. With Emily’s experience in integrating the arts across the campus community, University Housing looks forward to the amazing opportunities she will bring to the Arts Village.

The Arts Village is a collaboration between University Housing and Arts NC State. Established in 2007, the Arts Village, located in Turlington Residence Hall, is a dynamic living and learning community that unites students from various personal and academic backgrounds who have a passion for the arts and continue their exploration of broadly defined arts disciplines. The Arts Village educates and develops the whole person through developing students’ creativity and engagement with the arts on campus and in the community. The goal of the Arts Village is that students will continue their development in and through the arts well after they leave NC State, becoming art-engaged active citizens.

The division looks forward to Kasprzak joining University Housing and its partners in Arts NC State to continue providing an enriched arts education experience for Arts Village participants as the new village director. Please reach out to her at ekasprz@ncsu.edu to welcome her to the Wolfpack Community.
