Mastering New Dance Moves!

Recently, Scholars Forum students had the chance to learn the basics of salsa, meringue, cumbia, and more with musician Caique Vidal. Caique taught these sessions at Carmichael Recreation Complex in an effort to prepare students to dance at his upcoming Scholars Forum performance on October 8 & 9. It looks like everyone had an amazing time, learned the essentials, and definitely got a major workout. We’re really excited about Caique’s performance, so be sure to join us at the date below that works best for your schedule. All photos courtesy Connie Feinberg, University Scholars Program Photographer.

Caique Vidal and Batuque is a unique band that brings an infectious energy and riveting dance grooves to the stage. “Batuque” (pronounced ba-TOO-kee) means to drum. The band delivers an explosive performance integrating the sounds of Afro-Brazilian percussion with keyboards, bass, guitar and horns to produce an innovative version of samba, reggae, salsa, bachata, pop, rock, and Bossa Nova.
