Interim Leaders Named for University College, Arts NC State
Division of Academic and Student Affairs Vice Chancellor and Dean Doneka R. Scott has recently appointed interim leaders for University College and Arts NC State, with Tamah Morant set to lead University College while Joshua Reaves will take the helm for Arts NC State.
Morant has been appointed as the interim senior associate dean of University College, and Joshua Reaves has been appointed as the executive director for Arts NC State. Both appointments were effective in July.
Morant, who currently serves as a teaching professor of economics at the Poole College of Management, brings over two decades of experience in higher education administration to her new role. She was previously the associate dean of undergraduate programs for the Poole College of Management. Morant earned a Ph.D. and Master of Economics from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Economics from Wake Forest.
Morant, who has taught at NC State since 1999, is a recipient of the NC State University Outstanding Teacher Award and a member of the NC State Academy of Outstanding Teachers.
Reaves began his journey with NC State’s University Theatre in 2011, serving as the lighting and sound designer before becoming the program’s director in 2019. As director of the University Theatre, Reaves leads a team of 15 full-time, professional staff and more than 100 temporary staff to provide a collaborative six-show season and hundreds of events across multiple venues.
During the 2023-24 school year, Reaves and his team continued to find new and innovative ways to connect NC State students, faculty, staff, and the local community with University Theatre and Arts NC State through the theater program’s workshop series.
Before joining NC State, Reaves taught at both Campbell University and the University of Cincinnati. He earned a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from UNC-Greensboro.
Reaves has also done extensive freelance work with several local organizations including North Carolina Theatre, Raleigh Little Theatre, Manbites Dog, Justice Theatre Project, Burning Coal, NC Opera Company, The Alley Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, and New Harmony Theatre.
