Howl Together: Empowering Neurodivergent Students at NC State

OnePack Empowered program manager Sidney Fletcher and program assistant Alexis Wells have a conversation.

Howl Together is a new workshop series designed to support NC State students who identify as neurodivergent or face challenges with executive functioning.

This program is made possible thanks to a generous donation from an NC State alumnus who is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. The program, offered through the OnePack Empowered initiative, focuses on helping students navigate the unique challenges they encounter in their academic and personal lives.

By offering practical strategies and resources, Howl Together seeks to enhance student success across various domains.

Program Focus Areas

While Howl Together emphasizes career development, the workshops also address essential skills that impact overall student well-being, including:

  • Academics: Providing strategies to improve academic performance. Socializing: Helping students build and maintain meaningful connections.
  • Time Management: Offering tools and techniques for effective time management.
  • Wellness: Supporting mental and physical health.

The Impact of Executive Functioning Challenges

Executive function skills are key mental processes that enable students to succeed academically and in life.

These skills include:

  • Organization Planning and setting priorities
  • Task initiation and completion
  • Progress monitoring
  • Decision-making

By addressing these areas, Howl Together equips students with tools to overcome obstacles and achieve their full potential.

A Program Rooted in Support and Growth As part of the OnePack Empowered initiative, Howl Together aligns with NC State’s ongoing commitment to providing equitable support to all students, especially those who may need additional resources to navigate college life successfully.

The program has been developed with input from various campus partners to ensure it meets the diverse needs of our student population.
