Graduating Student-Athletes Honored at Annual Breakfast

Early morning on December 18, NC State student-athletes were honored at a celebration prior to the university commencement. Vaughn Towers at Carter-Finley Stadium was filled with pride as parents, coaches, advisors and friends came together to celebrate the accomplishments of 19 graduating student-athletes at the Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes (ASPSA) annual graduation breakfast.

Hannah Freyman and Kayla Grim, both from the women’s swimming and diving team, served as emcees for the event. Each graduating student-athlete was presented with a special sash to wear with their red cap and gown by their head coach, or a representative of their sport, and their academic advisor.

DaJuan Morgan, a former member of the Wolfpack football team who went on to have a career in the NFL, was the graduate speaker. He expressed his appreciation for the support of his family and how much this accomplishment meant to him. Director of Athletics Deborah Yow also spoke and continued her annual tradition of leading the graduates in a resounding rendition of the school fight song. Congratulations to all the graduating student-athletes. In the words of Katie Graham, Director of ASPSA, “You will always be a part of the Wolfpack family.”
