Gilbert Receives Award for Excellence nomination

DASA Awards for Excellence nominees.

NC State Student Media Associate Director Jamie Lynn Gilbert was among 17 nominees for the 2023-2024 NC State Award for Excellence within the Division of Academic and Student Affairs.

The University Awards for Excellence is the most prestigious honor bestowed upon non-faculty employees at the university. Gilbert was nominated in the efficiency and innovation category.

According to her nomination letter, Gilbert’s work digitizing the department’s 400+ annual student hiring packages and timesheets saved the department nearly 8,000 sheets of paper in just a year and a half. Gilbert also undertook a year-long project to develop comprehensive onboarding and offboarding documentation for the department and its seven student-led media outlets. Overall, Gilbert’s work resulted in “improved communication, easier hiring, quicker payment, cost savings and overall efficiency.”

Presented on April 13, Gilbert joined other colleagues from Academic Advising Programs and Services, Arts NC State, Career Development Center, Counseling Services, Health and Exercise Studies, Housing Facilities, NC State LIVE, Prevention Services, ROTC, Student Leadership and Engagement, TRIO Programs, University Housing and Wellness and Recreation.

Former Student Media Editorial Adviser Ellen Meder won the same award in 2019-2020.
