Get your Google On!

Google applications help the NC State community educate, communicate, and collaborate!  Wouldn’t you like to know more about all the available Google applications?  Well, great news, you can!

Here’s a list of upcoming classes available on campus in November. This is free training offered through OIT and you can sign up for classes through ClassMate. If you have questions or need assistance signing up for classes, please contact your local technical support staff for assistance.  You can find the address for assistance at: http://tech.dasa.ncsu.edu/get-help/

  • Becoming a Good Searcher – Online class through Google Hangout that will provide information on how to find things faster and easier.  Save yourself lots of time and frustration by learning how to use search functions more effectively.
  • Gmail: Beyond the Basics – There is more to Gmail than just composing, replying, and forwarding messages. This workshop will provide a more in-depth overview of Gmail features. It will cover many of the other capabilities of Gmail (emphasis on labels, search tools) along with an overview of contacts management, chat, tasks, settings, labs, and new features.
  • Google Drawings – Create, share, and edit drawings online using Google Drawings! Join us for this fun and interactive Lunch & Learn event and find out how easy it is to create your own drawing! Google Drawings can be inserted in other Google Apps like Docs, Sheets, and Slides, so whether you are trying to make a diagram, chart, or image, you can use the editing options in Google Drawings to create the drawing you want.
  • Google Calendar – Learn to utilize features such as appointment slots, event attachments, maps and directions, sharing and embedding calendars, labs, quick add, search options, mobile notifications, scheduling online meetings, and more.
  • Google Slides – Learn how to create your own presentations using Google Slides. This session will focus on creating, editing, sharing & collaboration, themes, transitions, animations, and more!
  • Introduction to Google Hangouts – Join this fun and interactive workshop to learn about Google Hangouts. Hangouts is Google’s free web conferencing tool that allows you to communicate with others on campus or around the globe via video, audio, and text messaging.  Learn how to use the Hangouts platform to share your screen, share documents, add a personalized banner, and download apps that offer additional helpful features.
  • Advanced Gmail plus Tools, Tips & Tricks – Learn more about labels, filters, canned responses, scheduling Google Calendar Events, Hangouts, and using Google Drive through Gmail, etc, along with any planned or newly released features Google has in store.
  • Create and Collaborate with Google Drive – Learn how to use Drive in a collaborative environment, including editing a file simultaneously with other people, securing a document through file sharing permissions, and creating files for use by a group of colleagues or friends.
