Get to Know NC State at Winter Welcome Week

Whether you’re a new student joining the NC State community for the first time or a returning student, faculty or staff member returning from the holiday break, the start of the spring semester is a time to experience NC State’s many rich traditions and set yourself up for a successful semester. 

During Winter Welcome Week, running from Jan. 3-11, the Wolfpack community can do exactly that, with a variety of events and activities hosted by New Student Programs (NSP) and several campus partners. 

With nearly 100 events, there’s something for everyone! Check out the full list of events here, and be sure to follow the instructions to download the NC State Guides app and add Winter Welcome Week events to your Google calendar. 

Below is a list of highlighted events that can help introduce you to life at NC State. 

Winter Welcome Week Kickoff and Info Fair

Saturday, Jan. 4, 1-5 p.m., Talley Student Union, Stewart Theater

Start the semester strong at the Winter Welcome Week Kickoff and Information Fair! Grab your 2025 t-shirt and join NSP for a pep rally and welcome featuring campus leaders and plenty of Wolfpack spirit. 

Student Involvement Fair

Saturday, Jan. 4, 2-5 p.m., Talley Student Union, State Ballroom

Learn about ways to connect with a variety of student organizations, academic programs and campus services. Don’t forget to talk with student organization leaders and meet faculty and staff that can help you navigate the journey! This event is sponsored by Student Involvement.

Wolfpack Welcome Crew

Monday, Jan. 6, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Wolf Plaza and Talley Student Union, Third Floor Lobby

Do you need help finding your classes? Want to grab a notebook, highlighter or a quick snack to get you started? Stop by one of the Wolfpack Welcome Crew tables! Friendly student leaders and staff will be on hand to help you find your classes, share tips and ensure your day starts off right.

Student Media Open House

Monday, Jan. 6, 4-6 p.m., Witherspoon Student Center Third Floor

No experience is necessary to join these award-winning publications. Learn about writing and reporting, photo and video, becoming a DJ and media production!

RecDay

Tuesday, Jan. 7, 4-7 p.m., Wellness and Recreation Center

Jumpstart your new year with RecDay! Dive into a fun, energizing experience where movement, mindfulness and community come together. Discover all that Wellness and Recreation has to offer while enjoying music from a DJ, healthy snacks and exciting giveaways. 

Winter Welcome Waffle Party

Tuesday, Jan. 7, 12-2 p.m., Career Development Center, Pullen Hall

Come celebrate the new semester with waffles and coffee at the Career Development Center! Waffle House and 321 Coffee will be on site outside Pullen Hall with waffles and specialty beverages for all. Students will also have the opportunity to network with career center staff and employer partners, and learn more about services offered on campus!

Office of Undergraduate Research Open House

Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 7 and 8, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Come visit with the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) to learn about the resources available to students across the campus. The OUR especially supports students who are looking to get started in research or who are simply curious to learn what research can look like in their field of interest.

Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2-4 p.m., Talley Student Union, LGBTQ Pride Center, Suite 5230

Learn more about the resources LGBTQ Pride Center offers the campus community and enjoy sweet treats, community and connections!

Women’s Center Open House

Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2-4 p.m., Talley Student Union, Women’s Center, Suite 5210

Stop by the Women’s Center to meet the staff and make some new friends, learn about resources and upcoming events and enjoy some music, food and prizes!

Military and Veteran Services Open House

Wednesday, Jan. 8, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Witherspoon Student Center, Room 100

Stop by the Jeffrey Wright Military and Veteran Services space to grab a quick bite, get to know the staff and learn more about the programs and services provided for military-connected students at NC State.

TransferPack Winter Welcome

Wednesday, Jan. 8, 5-7 p.m., Talley Student Union, Room 4280

Returning transfer students will welcome the new pack of transfer students to campus in a fun-filled event featuring bingo, bookstore prizes and delicious Makus Empanadas. Plus, grab a TransferPack t-shirt while supplies last!

Thursday, Jan. 9, 12-1 p.m., Campus Health Center, Room 2301

Stop by the Campus Health Center to pick up a free plant for your residence!

African American Cultural Center Open House

Friday, Jan. 10, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Witherspoon Student Center, Third Floor

Swing by the African American Cultural Center Open House to meet more friends, connect with resources and kick back before the semester starts!

Symposium for Multicultural Scholars

Friday, Jan. 10, 3-5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 11, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Witherspoon Student Center, Room 106

The Symposium for Multicultural Scholars is a culturally affirming educational and transitional experience centering on and exploring the experiences of incoming undergraduate first-year and transfer students as well as first-generation college students from all backgrounds, all historically underserved populations at NC State. Its purpose is to foster a sense of community for students while providing them with information about resources as a basis for helping ensure success at NC State.
