Nick Drake, director of Jeffrey Wright Military and Veteran Services at NC State, has taken company command of A Co., 1-252 AR BN, one of four armor companies in the North Carolina National Guard.

Prior to command, Drake has held numerous positions with the North Carolina National Guard including battalion assistant S3 (operations and planning), executive officer, tank platoon leader, and scout platoon leader. He has over 16 years of military service between the Army Reserve (2000-2010) and Army National Guard (2015-current), with multiple mobilizations and deployments including Operation Enduring Freedom (2003-2004, Texas), Operation Iraqi Freedom (2007-2008, Iraq), and Operation Spartan Shield and Inherent Resolve (2019-2020, Jordan, Syria, Kuwait).

“It’s been a unique and rewarding experience to continue my service in the North Carolina National Guard,” Drake said. “Now being a company commander, I will have the opportunity to impact soldiers and their families, very similar to how we serve students here at NC State.”
