Dr. Mike Mullen Named CALS Outstanding Alumni

For nearly 15 years the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the CALS Alumni and Friends Society have recognized the accomplishments of the college’s most outstanding alumni. Each year awards are issued to former CALS students from each department who have made outstanding contributions in their field of expertise and have a record of distinguished service to the community.

Dr. Mike Mullen, Vice Chancellor and Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, has been named the 2015 recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award for the Department of Soil Science.

Dr. Mullen has had extensive experience in soil and environmental science education and research, General Education program reform, strategic planning to drive change, and the establishment of campus capital campaign priorities. In addition to his current interests in college student success, his research interests include the fate of nitrogen and phosphorous in soils amended with biosolids, microbial ecology in agroecosystems, the fate of hormones from dairy wastes, and activity of soil organisms in soils of organic farming systems.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Mullen for this outstanding achievement!
