Division of Academic and Student Affairs Earns CASE Platinum, Bronze Awards for Producing State-of-the-Art Virtual Tour
NC State University’s Division of Academic and Student Affairs’ Marketing and Communications Office has received special recognition for “Best Practices in Digital Communication” from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
The division earned the CASE Platinum Finalist Award in the category of Best Practices in Digital Communication for its project, “Demystifying the Campus Housing Selection Process with Immersive Technology.” The project also received a Bronze Award in the category of Online Innovation/Experimentation. Division staff received both awards at the CASE District III Conference in Orlando, Fla., earlier this month.
For the award-winning project, the division partnered with NC State’s Distance Education and Learning Technology Applications (DELTA) to create a state-of-the-art virtual tour for NC State’s residential buildings, University Theatre, Student Health Center, Gregg Museum of Art and Design, among other destinations. Using a Matterport camera, the 3D tour gives visitors to the university’s housing website the opportunity to experience campus living in the most accurate, immersive experience possible.
