Data Privacy Month 2016
Data Privacy Month is Thursday, January 28 to Monday, February 29.
One of the most important steps you can take to secure your data is enabling 2-Step Verification on your N.C. State Google account. 2-Step adds an additional layer of security if your password is ever compromised. This security measure is also applicable to your personal Google account. After all, once a hacker has your password they can:
- Go through – or even delete – all of your emails, contacts, photos, etc.
- Pretend to be you and send unwanted or harmful emails to your contacts.
- Use your account to reset the passwords for your other accounts (banking, shopping, etc.).
If you department uses generic Google accounts, to support operations or student workers, please contact your local DASA Tech support staff to keep the account secure and functional.
Several informative videos are also available to help ensure you are familiar with best practices related to data security and privacy.
