Change in Park Shops Building Hours

For the past semester, we have been working to make additional classroom buildings accessible to students beyond traditional working hours. Students have expressed a desire for more spaces to study and meet beyond the library and student centers. Park Shops is the first classroom building that will offer adjusted hours.

The building is typically not open in the mid to late evening or on the weekends to those without card access. Effective Monday, May 1 Park Shops will be accessible during evening and weekend hours to better accommodate the study needs of students.

The expanded hours of operation will be:

• 7:00 a.m – 12:00 a.m. Monday through Friday
• 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

These hours will be effective through the exam period. We will also evaluate the need for expanded summer hours in addition to returning to this adjusted schedule for the fall 2017 semester.
Cameras and card readers have been installed and are operational. After hours when the building doors are locked, current NC State students, faculty, or staff members can use their valid ID to swipe into the building for access. Locations like offices and labs will not be accessible. There is common space in the building that can be used for individual and group study.
