Akieliah Robinson Earns Critical Language Scholarship for Chinese Language

Akieliah Robinson

Akieliah Robinson, a fourth-year student studying in biological engineering, has earned a prestigious Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) to study Chinese in summer 2025. The program provides fully funded immersive summer programs for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to learn languages of strategic importance to the United States’ national security, economic prosperity and engagement with the world.

As an immigrant and non-traditional college student who is also a current member of the United States Army, Akieliah understands the importance of communication across borders, especially when it comes to promoting scientific progress. Having strong Mandarin-speaking skills will ensure her future success as a career pharmaceutical developer after earning her Ph.D. in biochemistry, as China is a leading country in pharmaceutical development and biochemistry research.
